Good Friday Meditation

As seen through the eyes of Mary

(CPAS Church Leadership Pack No. 29)

On this our final service of Good Friday, we shall be looking at the events of the cross the eyes of someone who didn't deny Jesus, someone who didn't let him down.

Through the eyes of his mother, Mary.

I'm going to lead us in a meditation, in which Mary, standing at the foot of the cross, thinks back over the last thirty-odd years. In this meditation there are five short scenes, each lasting a couple of minutes, followed by a short time of silence. ...If you find it easier to close your eyes then feel free to do so, ...I won't assume that you've fallen asleep.

Many things have happened since the day that Jesus was born, ...there have been many changes in Mary's life. Some changes are hard to bear, ...perhaps you too are having to come to terms with that.
